Alison Fleury is the senior vice president of business development for Sharp HealthCare, San Diego's leading integrated health care delivery system and a 2007 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient, the nation’s highest presidential honor for quality and organizational performance excellence.
Fleury is responsible for Sharp's strategic planning and financing initiatives, as well as the purchase and sale of health-related businesses and the formation of partnership arrangements involving physicians and other health care organizations.
From January 2012 to September 2014, Fleury was also the chief executive officer of Sharp HealthCare ACO. Sharp was the only health care provider selected to participate in the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization model, an initiative sponsored by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation. In her oversight of the Sharp HealthCare ACO, Fleury worked with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to pilot a program for Medicare beneficiaries that enhanced the engagement between patients and their medical providers in the coordination of care and services across all aspects of their health care needs.
Fleury has nearly 30 years of experience in the health care industry. She joined Sharp in 1991 and has held several systemwide financial leadership positions, including vice president of finance. Fleury was promoted to senior vice president of business development in 1997. Prior to joining Sharp, Fleury was a manager and firm-designated health care specialist of Deloitte & Touche, an international public accounting and consulting firm.
A San Diego native, Fleury received her bachelor of science degree from San Diego State University, where she graduated summa cum laude and received the Most Outstanding Accounting Graduate Award. In 2014, Fleury was recognized as one of California's Most Powerful and Influential Women by the California Diversity Council. She received the YWCA Tribute to Women in Industry Award in 2000 and was named one of San Diego's "Top 40 Under Forty" by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine in 2001. Fleury is a past president of the San Diego-Imperial Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association and currently serves on the board of directors, finance committee and executive committee of the YWCA of San Diego County, and on the board of directors of Sharp Health Plan. Fleury is a certified public accountant in the state of California. She received her Six Sigma Green Belt and Change Agent certifications from Sharp HealthCare and is the Baldrige category 2 lead for the organization.
