Sharp HealthCare at a glance.

Sharp HealthCare is a not-for-profit integrated regional health care delivery system based in San Diego, Calif. Sharp includes four acute-care hospitals, three specialty hospitals and two medical groups, plus a full spectrum of other facilities and services.

Health Plans

Sharp Health Plan is a not-for-profit Knox Keene-licensed HMO serving nearly 45,000 members throughout San Diego County. The Health Plan provides health benefits for approximately 900 San Diego employers, including Sharp HealthCare, the City of San Diego, the San Diego Municipal Employees Association (MEA) and Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego, as well as many smaller local businesses.

As the only San Diego-based commercial health plan, Sharp Health Plan is uniquely focused on the health of San Diegans. The coverage options provide affordability, flexibility and choice, while ensuring high-quality health care and customer service. In addition, Sharp Health Plan recognizes the value of wellness and provides free, comprehensive wellness resources for all companies — regardless of size — as part of their health plan coverage.

Managed Care Contracts

Sharp hospitals hold six capitated commercial HMO contracts and two capitated senior HMO contracts. Effective Jan. 1, 2005, Sharp hospitals will hold only one capitated senior HMO contract.

Medical Clinics

Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers serve Carmel Valley/Del Mar, Chula Vista, downtown, El Cajon, La Mesa, Mira Mesa, Point Loma, Rancho Bernardo, San Diego and Serra Mesa.

Sharp Senior Health Centers serve San Diego and El Cajon.
