Ann Pumpian is the senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Sharp HealthCare. She is responsible for oversight of the financial decision, support, population management finance, supply chain management, vendor and payor contracting, government reimbursement, financial accounting, cost accounting, budgeting, tax reporting, accounts payable, payroll, treasury functions and patient financial services including revenue cycle management, charge description master, rate rationalization, billing and receivables and administration of charity care policies.
Pumpian serves on numerous boards and committees, including the Sharp Health Plan Board; Continue Quality Insurance, SPC, Board; and the Washington Pacific, SPC Board.
Pumpian began her career at Sharp HealthCare in 1984 as the government and contracts manager. Over the years, she served as director of contracts, chief financial officer and consultant to Sharp Health Plan and vice president of managed care. She has held her current position since 1993. Prior to joining Sharp HealthCare, she was employed as a health care specialist in audit and consulting for an international public accounting and consulting firm.
Pumpian is a certified public accountant and received her bachelor of science, master of science and master of business administration degrees with specialization in accounting and health care financial management from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Pumpian received the Becker's Healthcare Leadership Award in 2013, was named as one of Becker's "130 women hospital and health system leaders to know" in both 2013 and 2014 and received the San Diego Business Journal CFO of the Year Award in 2016.
