Tim Smith is the senior vice president and chief executive officer of Sharp Memorial Hospital, the largest Sharp HealthCare hospital and rated one of 50 "Exceptional U.S. Hospitals" in Consumers Digest. He joined Sharp HealthCare in 2007 with more than 27 years of hospital and health care management experience.
Prior to joining Sharp, Smith served as interim chief operating officer at University of California, Irvine, Medical Center and chief executive officer for two tenet health care hospitals in California: Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Garden Grove Hospital. At Fountain Valley, he developed new service lines for the hospital, including pediatric oncology, gynecologic oncology and bariatric surgery. At Garden Grove, he was on the board of the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, including serving as board chairman one year.
Earlier in his career, Smith held administrative positions with several Southern California health care providers, including St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, Hoag Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach and Health West Health System in Van Nuys.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master of Public Health in health services management from the University of California, Los Angeles.
