Healing the Body, Mind and Spirit

Patient Heidi proudly displays her completed picture frame

The Arts for Healing Program is designed to improve the emotional and spiritual health of patients. By introducing life-enhancing activities into a healing and compassionate environment, patients are comforted and often experience a faster recovery.

Under the leadership of a Sharp Spiritual Care professional, a team of volunteers guides and works with patients and their loved ones to create a balance between physical and emotional healing.

Arts for Healing projects and activities include:

  • Art projects
  • Beading
  • Bedside art projects
  • Card making
  • Creative writing
  • Listening to audiobooks
  • Model building
  • Music therapy
  • Painting
  • Scrapbooking
  • Seasonal craft projects
  • Small needlepoint and quilting
  • Special musical or theatrical events

The Arts for Healing program is made possible thanks to the support of donors, and is available to all patients at Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns, Sharp McDonald Center and Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital.
