Healing the Body, Mind and Spirit
Providing extraordinary patient care often goes beyond traditional medical treatments. Sharp HealthCare's Arts for Healing Program is designed to address the physical, psychological, cognitive, spiritual and social needs of patients. Funded completely by donations through Sharp HealthCare Foundation, the program aims to provide comfort and relieve stress and anxiety for both patients and their loved ones, often leading to a faster recovery.
Under the leadership of a Sharp Spiritual Care professional, licensed music and art therapists and a team of volunteers guide and work with patients and their loved ones through art and music therapies. The program uses art, music and creative writing at the bedside or in group activities to help patients and their loved ones reduce feelings of fear, stress, pain and isolation. All Arts for Healing services are provided at no charge to the participants.
Arts for Healing projects and activities include:
- Art projects
- Card making
- Creative writing
- Model building
- Seasonal craft projects
- Small needlepoint and quilting
- Special musical or theatrical events
The Arts for Healing program is made possible thanks to the support of donors, and is available to all patients at Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns, Sharp McDonald Center and Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital.Specialty Services
