Aug. 1–8, 2009
We started our weekend with my girlfriend, Valinda's, son's baptism/18th birthday party. I saw friends I haven't seen since my transplant and right away they could see a difference in me physically! Their smiles, hugs and compliments said it all!
On Sunday, with our cousins, Larry and I headed up to Laguna Beach to see the Pageant of the Masters. Susan and Alan drove and planned out the details for the whole trip! It was great ... they found a beautiful hotel for us to stay the night and treated us to a fabulous dinner before the show (they really spoiled us). This was my first trip away from home since my transplant ... sure felt good to travel again!
Monday night I went and played Bunco (a dice game) with my girlfriends. The Bunco Babes celebrated my return and toasted to my new heart! As usual, we ate dinner, laughed and told stories as we rolled our dice. Our Bunco group has been together for about 16 years. They have seen me go through so many ups and downs through the years. It was great to celebrate this milestone in my life with them!
Tuesday, my friend Allyne gave my Dad and I tickets to the Padres game. I did really well walking from the car to the stadium. I can tell my Cardiac Rehab classes are helping me! We had really great seats and a nice cool breeze. Unfortunately, the Padres lost, but we still had a fun time.
Wednesday and Friday I worked out at the Cardiac Rehab Center and increased my times and levels on the treadmill and bike. Jennifer tested me on Friday and showed me how much I had improved since July. I was amazed at how much I had accomplished. Follow more of Debbie's heart transplant journey.
