Sharp HealthCare Participates in Online CHART Report Card

In March 2007, the California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Task Force (CHART) launched CalHospitalCompare.org, a comprehensive, online report card that provides consumers with information about the quality of care provided by California hospitals in a number of clinical areas.

More than 200 California hospitals – including Sharp HealthCare – are voluntarily participating in CalHospitalCompare.org. Most of the hospital systems and the majority of larger individual hospitals, representing more than 70 percent of all hospital admissions in the state, are included in the report card.

CalHospitalCompare.org rates hospitals on 50 “performance indicators” – measurements that are commonly accepted as valid assessments of the quality of clinical care provided to patients. Cardiac care, maternity services, compliance with surgical infection standards, treatment for pneumonia as well as patient satisfaction are among the yardsticks.
