New Sharp Coronado Hospital Chief of Staff Begins Two-Year Term

As part of its biannual elections, the Department of Clinical Services at Sharp Coronado Hospital has elected a new chief of staff — Dr. Kevin Considine, a Sharp Coronado-affiliated family medicine physician.

The chief of staff oversees the hospital’s medical staff and enforces bylaws, rules and regulations, ensuring compliance with procedural safeguards. This elected party also serves as the medical staff representative to the Board of Directors and CEO.

The role is a significant responsibility, but one that Considine says he is prepared to undertake.

“This will be an interesting new venture for me, and I am very excited to take on this role as both a personal challenge and a professional growth experience,” he said.

His goals for the upcoming year include sustaining the hospital’s growth and continuing to implement the Planetree philosophy, a model of patient-centered care that seeks to personalize, humanize and demystify the hospital experience for patients and their families.

“With these uncertain economic times, it’s important to me to see that the hospital continues to grow and remains in Coronado,” he said.

Aside from his goals for the hospital, Considine wanted his staff to know that his door is always open and he welcomes any questions or concerns.
