Diabetes Tip: How to Exercise and Have a Good Time

Lifting weights and running are not the only ways to stay active! Read on to find out how to exercise and enjoy yourself at the same time. The more you move, the better control you will have of your diabetes. Try incorporating some of these activities into your life:

  • Dance — Dancing is a good way to get your feet moving; double the fun by dancing with a partner 
  • Play with your children — Children and adults can have fun together; the kids will enjoy the attention and you may feel like a child again yourself 
  • Swim — Swimming is great exercise; try taking a water aerobics class or just swimming some laps to cool off
  • Take your dog for an extra walk each day — Explore your neighborhood or a local park; your pet just might make some new friends 
  • Walk around while you talk on the phone — Keep in touch with your family and friends and burn a few calories while you chat
