Diabetes Tip: How to Lower Blood Pressure

For people with diabetes, the goal is to have blood pressure less than 130/80. The American Diabetes Association recommends the following to help lower blood pressure:

  • Consume alcohol in moderation
  • Eat whole-grain breads and cereals
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a reasonable weight
  • Reduce salt intake
  • Reduce stress
  • Stop smoking

If you have high blood pressure, you should routinely have it checked by your primary care physician.

If you want to speak with a Sharp Rees-Stealy disease manager for more information on how to lower your blood pressure, call 858-499-2700.
