When Sharp Grossmont Hospital's David and Donna Long Center for Cancer Treatment opened in July 1993, it was the first comprehensive outpatient center for cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and educational resources in San Diego County. 

Today, the center offers San Diego cancer patients the latest cancer-fighting technologies and investigation therapies. We are patient-focused and friendly, providing the ability to visit medical and radiation oncology specialists in one convenient location.

Radiation Therapy
Radiation services are provided by a team of radiation oncologists, certified oncology nurses, radiation therapists, physicists and medical dosimetrists. The therapy center

as two linear accelerator vaults for delivering external-beam radiation therapy. In addition to conventional radiation therapy, the radiation oncology service line offers the following treatment modalities: 

Medical Oncology Services

Chemotherapy Day Treatment
Patients receive chemotherapy and other supportive medical treatments from specially trained nurses in a bright, comfortable lounge area or private room and return home the same day

Hematology
Support for leukemia, hemophilia, Hodgkin's disease, multiple myeloma and lymphoma.

Additional Services

Clinical Laboratory Services
Laboratory tests are provided in connection with chemotherapy and radiation treatments. The analysis of blood and body fluids utilizing state-of-the-art equipment provides quick information to enable physicians to prescribe the appropriate treatments or preventive measures that ensure the best therapy.

Laboratory
Located conveniently in the center of the building, lab results are returned as quickly as possible using the most sophisticated equipment.

Support and Education
The center offers cancer community education seminars, cancer clinical trials and counseling and breast cancer support groups for patients and families.
