Grossmont Plaza Surgery Center

Grossmont Plaza Surgery Center is a multispecialty surgical center offering general surgery including gynecological, ophthalmologic, orthopedic and ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures. It is located on the campus of Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa.

The outpatient center is a convenient alternative to hospitalization. As a surgery outpatient, you will be able to return home soon after your procedure, without an overnight stay.

Before Your Surgery
If your physician requested lab work or X-rays, make sure they are completed prior to your arrival. Bring your insurance cards and picture ID. Be sure deductibles, estimated copayments or cash payments are settled prior to surgery. If your insurance plan requires special authorizations or referrals, please be sure your surgeon's office has obtained them. The Surgery Center accepts cash, checks and money orders, and American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Arrival and Parking
Your surgeon has requested that you arrive an hour and a half before your scheduled surgery to allow time for parking, registration and preparation. You will find a parking structure adjacent to the Surgery Center. Parking is available for a minimal fee, with validation.

Fasting and Medication
For your safety, please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. This includes water, candy, gum, mints and chewing tobacco. Your surgery will be cancelled if these instructions are not followed.

If you are taking heart, blood pressure, seizure or asthma medication, please take them with a sip of water unless your physician advises you otherwise. If you are on diabetic insulin therapy, your physician will advise the dosage to take the morning of your surgery.

Clothing
Shower or bathe the day of your surgery and wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. As the temperature in the waiting area varies, please bring a light jacket or sweater. For your safety, please remove all jewelry, including body piercings, prior to arrival. Leave all valuables at home. If you wear contact lenses or glasses, bring a case to put them in.
