Meet Sharp Grossmont Hospital's Hyperbaric Medicine Medical Director

Dr. Peter Colaprete, Hyperbaric Medicine, Sharp Grossmont Hospital

Dr. Peter Colaprete is a United States Marine Corps Vietnam veteran who received his bachelor's degree in biology from Adelphi University in New York. He completed medical school at University of Liege in Belgium and fulfilled his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Dr. Colaprete pursued a fellowship in critical care medicine at New York University/Booth Memorial Medical Centers. In 1987, he joined the Sharp Grossmont Hospital team in the Department of Emergency Medicine and has served as medical director of hyperbaric medicine since 1999. In addition, Dr. Colaprete is an attending physician in the Wound Healing Center.

Dr. Colaprete is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the Hyperbaric Medicine/American Board of Preventative Medicine, and he is a certified wound specialist. His published works, "Acute Opiate Overdose Management" and "Comprehensive Review of Emergency Medicine-CREM IV," were distributed nationally. His speaking engagements include Grossmont Annual Vascular Conference on Wound Care and Sharp Community Medical Group Conference.
