Appropriate and Ethical Phlebotomy Practices Seminar for Laboratory Personnel

A continuing education event for laboratory personnel.

In addition to technical expertise, phlebotomists must possess critical thinking skills to respond appropriately and ethically to situations that can occur during interactions with fellow health care workers and patients.
This three-hour program will focus on communication, ethical behaviors and patient privacy information as regulated by HIPAA. The presenters will also discuss avoidance of blood-borne pathogen transmission and malpractice risks related to phlebotomy.
This seminar is for laboratory assistants, phlebotomists, medical laboratory technicians and clinical laboratory scientists who can benefit from this educational session.
Breakfast will be available beginning at 8 am. Please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to check in no later than 8:10 am.

- Dr. Howard Robin is a board-certified pathologist. He worked as a pathologist at the Sharp Memorial Hospital laboratory and was head of Sharp HealthCare's Continuing Medical Education department. Dr. Robin recently retired and now serves as a guest lecturer.
- Peggy Kollars is a lab education senior specialist at Sharp HealthCare.

Sharp HealthCare Pathology is a California-approved laboratory continuing education accrediting agency. Sharp HealthCare designates this educational activity for a maximum of 3.0 contact hours of continuing education.
Free visitor parking is available from the lot entrance on Spectrum Center Boulevard. Employee parking is available in the front, back and side of the Spectrum building. The four entrances on Tech Way require an activated employee badge.
