Presented by Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center

Sharp HealthCare offers free support for women with breast cancer. At these groups, women can share their concerns and experiences of living with breast cancer and exchange ideas to discover new coping strategies in a friendly, informational atmosphere.

Support groups are open to women in all stages of breast cancer — from recent diagnosis to treatment to cancer survivor.

Sharp offers two separate breast cancer support groups. The group that meets at Sharp Grossmont Hospital is led by Connie Kaplan, a registered nurse, who works in radiation therapy at the Long Cancer Center. Kaplan is also a certified oncology nurse with 29 years of experience. Her group is not meant for women with metastatic disease.

The other group meets at the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and is facilitated by Angiolina Mohi, a certified cancer patient navigator, who has a master's degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy. This group features guest speakers such as radiation therapists, lymphedema therapists and nutritionists to provide further education and to answer questions.

This group is facilitated by Ramona Gonzalez, cancer patient navigator, and Julia Galvan, a licensed social work at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. This support group is available in Spanish, see Grupo de Apoyo Para Pacientes con Cáncer de Seno for dates and times.
