This annual competency education program is required for all Sharp Memorial Hospital staff registered nurses who work in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). The class will cover required annual education and competency topics, including the following:
- Emergency Standing Orders
- Mock Code Blue
- Moderate sedation
- Temporary pacing
- Anticoagulation update
- Blood administration and transfusion reactions
- Crisis intervention training
- Feeding tube tips
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Opiod safety
- RRT update (for those nurses doing backup RRT)
- Safe patient handling

Nurses should come prepared to take the Emergency Standing Orders exam and complete the skill stations.
