Injury Prevention Program for Non-Clinical New Employees

Mandatory education required for all Grossmont employees to reduce workplace injuries.

Evidenced-based best practice methods and instruction to educate staff to reduce risks, work safely and reduce injuries incurred on the job.
New employees must complete a two-hour orientation that teaches save patient mobilization tools and techniques and ergonomics. Some departments require staff to complete a one-hour recertification each year. Most employees schedule their recertification before their anniversary date as part of their annual compliance requirements.

Mandatory for all new employees whose duties do not involve direct patient care.

To find out if you are eligible for a recertification class, you must check your last attended date in Lawson.
- Go to SharpNET
- Select Lawson at the top right of the page
- Sign in with your work username and password
- On left menu, select Credentials, then Requirements. Your last date of certification will be listed. If last date of certification is not listed, or is not accurate, please refer to your manager
Classes start on time, so please plan to arrive five minutes early. You will not be admitted five minutes after the start time.
What to Bring
Please bring your employee ID number. You can find it on your time card or time sheet. If you cannot find it, please check with your manager or supervisor to obtain your number before attending class.
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider 70).
- Two contact hours for attending the new employee clinical and non-clinical class
- One contact hour for attending the recertification clinical or non-clinical class
