A fitness and nutrition program designed specifically for you!
Presented by Sharp Coronado Hospital
Individual metabolism is key to managing weight and nutrition. By determining your individual metabolism, we can help you take ultimate control over nutrition, weight and general fitness without simply estimating needs.
At Sharp Coronado Hospital, a revolutionary handheld device is used for determining metabolism and is changing the way individuals successfully manage nutrition, weight and fitness. We use a portable medical device that scientifically measures oxygen consumption and determines a person's resting metabolic rate, or RMR. Resting metabolism accounts for up to 75 percent of the calories people use each day. The other 25 percent of calories used are the result of daily activity.
The test is simply using a mouthpiece to breath into the device for about 10 minutes. The device then accurately measures volume of oxygen consumed (V02) to determine RMR, which is displayed on the device's LCD screen. During the test, you will be required to breathe through your mouth wearing a nose clip.
The critical RMR reading is explained to you and a weight and nutrition management program is developed with a registered dietitian specifically for your needs. The session with the registered dietitian involves reviewing current eating habits and lifestyle factors to customize a nutrition plan. Nutrition and weight goals are discussed and planned to improve your current nutrition condition.
Since successful weight management involves fitness, you also have a session with a professional trainer. This session involves strength training to increase muscle mass, flexibility to improve posture and muscle efficiency, and aerobic exercise recommendations to assist with fat loss and cardiovascular endurance. A personal trainer will assist you in developing a personalized fitness program to fit your goals.
