This introductory-level class takes place in a warm-water pool and is open to people of all ages, but is particularly beneficial to seniors and those who suffer from chronic pain caused by arthritis and fibromyalgia. A licensed physical therapist will introduce a full-body exercise routine aimed at achieving relaxation, improving range of motion and building strength.

For Standard: A fee of $15 will be deducted from the amount paid if you cancel your registration less than 24 hours before the event.

Special Instructions

Please consult your physician prior to registration if you have uncontrolled blood pressure, seizure disorder, open wounds or sensitivity to chemicals. This class is not open to Medicare patients, due to the program's strict guidelines.

Participants must be comfortable in a group exercise environment and have no fear of water. The class will be conducted in chest-deep water at most with your feet on the ground and your head above water.

You must be able to enter and exit the pool independently or using a ramp.

Presenter Information

Nancy Jungling is a physical therapist who has more than 10 years of experience treating orthopedic issues at Sharp Rees-Stealy.

Arrival

Please arrive 15 minutes early, so that you are changed and ready to start the class on time.

When you enter the YMCA, please sign in at the front desk in the physical therapy binder before heading into the locker room area. Do not enter the water until you have checked in with the physical therapist.

What to Bring

Please bring the following with you to each class:

  • Bathing suit
  • Non-slip footwear for the locker room and pool deck
  • Personal toiletries
  • Towel
  • Water 
If you are interested in utilizing the lockers at the YMCA, you must supply your own lock. Lockers are only available while you are attending the class. You may also bring your belongings with you to the pool deck.
