Stroke survivor David Moody visits Sharp Grossmont Hospital
three times per week to attend aquatic therapy
classes led by recreational therapist Liz Clarno.
When David started the classes two years ago, he had little to no use of his affected arm or leg. Liz works with David on an exercise program designed to help him achieve his goal of getting back into skiing. He has gained so much strength back that he can swim laps using his affected arm, and he continues to make progress every day.
“Aquatic therapy can open new doors for people of all ages and physical limitations,” says Liz. “They leave here saying, ‘If I can do that, what else can I do?’ and that’s incredibly encouraging to hear.”
