Around-the-Clock Physician Care

Sharp Mary Birch is staffed by anesthesiologists, obstetricians, gynecologists, maternal-fetal specialists and neonatologists 24 hours a day.

Labor and Delivery

The state-of-the-art labor and delivery department at Sharp Mary Birch provides quality care to pregnant women and their families from pre-birth testing, labor assessment, delivery and recovery. To learn more, please read Labor and Delivery.

Mother's Milk Depot

Southern California's only breast milk repository, Mother's Milk Depot, provides breast milk for premature babies and others in need. The milk is donated by carefully screened, healthy nursing mothers and pasteurized at the Mothers' Milk Bank at Valley Medical Center in San Jose, Calif.

Outpatient Lactation Services

Breastfeeding can sometimes be challenging after you arrive home. Our board-certified lactation consultants can help you and your family to have a more successful breastfeeding experience. We are available for one-on-one assistance after you leave the hospital. You, your partner and new baby can visit our outpatient lactation clinic open Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Sharp Mary Birch. Prenatal Testing
For mothers that need special testing during pregnancy, the Prenatal Diagnostic Center is available for sonograms, non-stress and contraction stress testing, as well as other vital tests and genetic counseling.

Welcoming the New Arrival
A diverse team, including clinical specialists, social workers and clergy, are available to you after the birth of your baby. Our nurses are skilled at helping new moms learn how to breastfeed, and when extra help is needed, a certified lactation consultant can provide support. A comprehensive education program, including a "Going Home" class prepares mothers to care for their babies at home.

Additional Services

For mothers with health care needs beyond pregnancy — such as cardiac problems — advanced care is provided at Sharp Memorial Hospital, which is directly connected to Sharp Mary Birch Hospital. If your newborn needs advanced surgical care, Children's Hospital and Health Center is a short distance away through a connecting passage.
