The acute care unit at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns is devoted to providing medical and surgical care for women of all ages. A team of physicians and nurses meet the surgical needs of women with a reproductive organ cancer, plastic or reconstructive surgery, fertility treatment complications or mothers who have had pregnancy complications or have a baby in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). As part of the Sharp Metropolitan Medical Campus, Sharp Mary Birch offers women access to outstanding care for even the most complex health issues.

Surgical Services
Our outpatient and inpatient women's surgical services include:

• Cosmetic and plastic surgery
• General surgery
• Gynecologic oncology surgery
• Gynecologic surgery, including minimally invasive robotic procedures
• Obstetrical and women's emergency surgery services
• State-of-the-art laparoscopic surgery

A multidisciplinary team experienced in postoperative care staffs our 18-bed post-surgical care unit.

Imaging Services
We utilize the latest technology for cancer detection in our Sharp Mary Birch Women's Outpatient Imaging Center, located in the new Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion. These powerful, innovative screening tools include:

• 16-view computerized tomography (CT) scanner
• Computer-aided diagnostic mammography
• Computerized radiology
• Diamond mammography platform
• Picture-archiving communications system (PACS) for instant transfer of results to Sharp facilities and affiliated physicians
• Stereotactic breast biopsy unit

Gynecologic Oncology
This program, a component of the Cancer Center at Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion, is led by nationally recognized, board-certified gynecologic oncologists. The program offers a full spectrum of services, including:

• Breast Cancer Center support and guidance
• Cancer detection
• Cancer diagnosis
• Chemotherapy
• Radiation therapy
• Surgery
