Cell Phones
To promote a restful environment for patients, please refrain from cell phone use in the Intensive Care Units, and use discretion in all other areas. In consideration of others, please also avoid using your cell phone in speaker mode.

Concierge Services
Monday through Friday, 5 am to 10 pm
Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm

Located in the Main Lobby, our concierge staff is dedicated to making your visit more comfortable. They can assist you with hospital information, daily newspaper delivery, transportation, dining, gift arrangement and delivery, courier services, shopping and business services.

Concierge Services can also accommodate special requests, including providing MP3 player docking stations and digital photo frames for patient rooms. Call our special request line at 12345 when dialing within the hospital.

Dining
The cafeteria, located on Level 1, is open daily — from 6:15 am to 8 pm, and midnight to 3 am. Espresso Express is located in the Main Lobby and is open daily from 7 am to 6 pm. Vending machines are adjacent to the cafeteria, in the Main Lobby, and in the Family Lounges.

Family Lounges
Family Lounges on Levels 2 through 6 offer a place to relax and enjoy amenities including flat-panel televisions, beverages and other nourishment, desktop computers with Internet access and free wireless Internet access.

Flowers and Gifts
For health reasons, patients in our intensive care, oncology and transplant units cannot receive live plants or flowers. This includes rooms 101 through 130, 201 through 224, 301 through 324 and 501 through 532. Our gift shop staff can assist you with the selection of an alternative gift, or you may arrange for flowers to be delivered to the patient’s home upon discharge.

  • Gift Shop, Level 1, across from the Chapel/Meditation Room
    Owned and operated by the Sharp Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Gift Shop offers flowers, greeting cards, candy, gifts, games and patient and guest overnight necessities.   • Gift Gallery, Level 1, Main Lobby
    The Sharp Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Gift Gallery offers books and magazines, robes, slippers, toiletries, aromatherapy and comfort items, unique gifts and Sharp Memorial Hospital signature items. Internet Access
Free wireless Internet access (WiFi) is available throughout the hospital for patients and guests with personal computing devices. Internet access is also available on desktop computers located in the Family Lounges on Levels 2 through 6.

Patients and visitors are invited to use either of our two conveniently located parking structures:

  • Frost Street — adjacent to Sharp Memorial Hospital
  • Health Center Drive — adjacent to Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns

Parking validation and monthly parking passes are available at the Concierge Desk.

Smoking
Consistent with our mission and health care responsibility to patients, guests and staff, Sharp Memorial Hospital maintains a smoke-free environment. Smoking is prohibited in the hospital and on the surrounding campus, including parking garages. Hospitalized patients who smoke are offered a smoking cessation program.

Spiritual Care
An interfaith Chapel/Meditation Room is located on Level 1 across from the Gift Shop, and is available for private prayer and meditation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Interfaith chaplains are available to help you and your loved ones with your spiritual care needs as well as assist with sacramental ministries. Your nurse can arrange for a chaplain to visit you. Additionally, you are welcome to arrange visits from your own clergy.

Visiting Hours and Information
Visiting hours are 24 hours a day unless otherwise indicated by the patient's physician or nursing staff.

For the safety of our patients and guests, hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the hospital. Please clean your hands before and after visiting a patient. In addition, if you have symptoms such as fever, coughing or sneezing, please refrain from visiting. Read about the recent pertussis (whooping cough) outbreak and what you can do to stay safe and healthy.

We strive to keep our guest policy flexible. Whenever possible, we honor the patient’s wishes regarding guests. There may be circumstances where it is necessary for you to leave the bedside for the safety of the patient or other guests, but you will be informed of the reason and given a time to return.

At the discretion of the patient and caregivers, a loved one is invited to spend the night in the patient’s private room. Linens are available in the closet. Please keep the following guidelines in mind while visiting:

  • Guests must be appropriately dressed, including a shirt and shoes, and free of signs of illness, drug influence and intoxication
