Helping People Regain Their Stability and Productivity

Family difficulties, job pressures or a single traumatic event can cause emotional and behavioral problems. A person in crisis may experience anxiety, depression, thought disturbances, loss of self-worth or, in extreme situations, contemplation of self-destructive behaviors. We understand these difficulties and have the professional expertise to help people regain their stability and learn to cope.

For more than 40 years, Sharp's Mental Health Services has provided care for patients in a nurturing, growth-producing treatment setting. Sharp's goal is to help individuals in crisis regain their optimal level of functioning and achieve a renewed sense of emotional stability and wellness.

The following treatment programs are within Sharp HealthCare's continuum of adult mental health care:

Adult Partial Hospitalization Programs
The Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs are designed for patients who are experiencing disabling symptoms or a worsening of a chronic and persistent mental illness.

  • Cognitive Therapy for Treatment of Depression
Short-term treatment program for patients experiencing a significant disruption in daily living.
  • Dual Recovery Services (Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital or Sharp Grossmont Hospital)
Treatment for patients diagnosed with co-occurring substance abuse disorders and mental illness.
  • Eating Disorders Treatment
For the treatment of the complex and long-term issues associated with anorexia or bulimia.

Inpatient (In-Hospital) Programs

  • Intensive Care and Intensive Treatment Programs
Short-term crisis intervention in a safe, secure and structured setting, the goal of these programs is to achieve a rapid recovery from the symptoms of illness and a return home or to a placement in a comfortable, structured living arrangement.
  • Mood Disorder Program
For the treatment of depression, grief, anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorders and posttraumatic stress disorders, this program combines techniques from cognitive, interpersonal, behavioral and biological models to promote the development of healthy problem-solving skills.
  • Solutions Program
This treatment program is designed to provide more supportive psychiatric interventions that build effective coping behaviors for individuals who are experiencing the acute phase of an ongoing psychiatric illness or severe emotional crisis.

Outpatient (Out-of-Hospital) Specialty Care Programs

  • Cognitive Therapy for Treatment of Depression
Short-term treatment for patients experiencing significant disruption in daily living.
  • Dual Recovery Services
Treatment for patients diagnosed with both a substance abuse problem and mental illness.
  • Eating Disorders Treatment
Designed to teach patients alternative ways to cope with life's demands and stress in a healthy way.
