Cognitive Behavioral Group Therapy for Teens

San Diego-based Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital offers an after-school program for adolescents struggling with emotional and behavioral issues. Our cognitive behavioral therapy program provides mental health treatment to adolescents in grades 7 through 12. We provide a structured and supportive environment for learning healthier ways of coping with stress and difficult situations many young adults face.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) teaches teens to learn new ways of thinking and to make connections between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Additional topics discussed during therapy include anger management, effective communication, emotion regulation, coping skills, stress management, self-esteem, social skills, self injury and substance abuse.

Sharp's San Diego-based treatment program for adolescents takes place primarily in a group therapy setting with regular individual and family therapy sessions. Additionally, the behavior program emphasizes family involvement by offering weekly multifamily group therapy.
