Senior Intensive Outpatient Program

An intensive outpatient program designed to meet the special needs of seniors.

Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital’s Senior Intensive Outpatient Program is designed for older adults who are experiencing problems with depression, anxiety or other mental health issues. The program’s interdisciplinary team specializes in care for seniors and uses an educational approach — considered a “best practice” in mental health — to help patients manage symptoms and prevent relapse. As part of this comprehensive treatment, the program features inpatient-to-outpatient transition and intensive case management.

Patients will learn the following skills: 

  • Coping in a healthy way with changes in health, transitions and losses
  • How to develop a routine of enjoyable activity that supports quality of life
  • Maximizing communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Understanding and changing unhealthy thoughts
  • Using relaxation techniques to manage anxiety and improve sleep
