Sharp's Executive Vice President Appointed to American Hospital Association Board

Dan Gross, executive vice president of hospital operations at Sharp HealthCare, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA). The AHA is the nation’s preeminent association of organizations and individuals committed to the improvement of health in their communities. It includes more than 5,000 member hospitals, health systems and other health care organizations and 38,000 individual members.

"This is a great honor for Dan, and reflects his prestigious standing in our industry," said Mike Murphy, CEO and president of Sharp HealthCare. "His leadership and collaboration skills along with strong knowledge of health policy and health care reform issues will be invaluable to the AHA Board."

Previously, Gross has served on the Boards of the Hospital Association of San Diego and Imperial County (HASD&IC), California Hospital Association (CHA) and the American Hospital Association Region IX Policy Board. Gross has served as chairman of both the HASD&IC and CHA Boards. 

Gross is one of eight new trustees who will begin their terms on Jan. 1, 2012. As a trustee, Gross will help to direct the policies and management of AHA, at a time when strong leadership and legislative presence are of particular importance to health care and its providers.
