Health Tip: Keep Pet Food Safe
(HealthDay News) -- Fido or Fluffy deserve the same confidence as you do -- that their food will be safe to eat.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration suggests these tips for safe handling of pet food:
Before and after touching pet food, wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with soap and warm water.
After each feeding, clean all pet food and water dishes and any feed scoops with soap and hot water.
Scoop food out of containers with a clean, dedicated scoop.
Discard any spoiled or old pet food by placing inside a tied plastic bag.
