Susan: I call many of our patients after they’ve gone home to follow up and check on their wellness. And I tell people that I’m thinking about them after they’ve visited our emergency department.

I ask them, “How are you doing? Do you have questions? What can I help you with?” It’s a wonderful opportunity to close that loop, answer their questions and make them feel better.  They’re always very surprised that somebody cared enough to call them and ask how they’re doing. You know, it’s the little things that make a huge difference – a little thing like a phone call.
