Sharp HealthCare Receives Multiple Press Ganey Awards

Several Sharp HealthCare entities have been recognized by the Press Ganey organization for achievement in a range of quality measures. A total of nine Guardian of Excellence Awards (based on one year of data) and four Beacon of Excellence Awards (based on three years of data) were received by seven Sharp entities. Award categories include Patient Satisfaction, Physician Engagement and Employee Engagement, and Sharp was the only health care organization to be recognized in this awards program.

Of the 10,000 health care organizations worldwide that partner with Press Ganey to measure and improve performance, fewer than 5 percent achieve these awards in a given year.

"We are proud to partner with Sharp HealthCare," said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey, a leading performance improvement firm for the health care industry. "Achieving this level of excellence reflects the organization's commitment to delivering outstanding service and quality. Sharp's efforts benefit patients in San Diego and will lead to improved patient experiences."

According to Mike Murphy, president and CEO of Sharp HealthCare, the awards represent important recognition of Sharp's efforts to understand and improve the patient experience.

"The people of Sharp are committed to delivering health care the way it should be, and these awards certainly bear that out. We set out to transform the health care experience when we launched our performance improvement initiative, called the Sharp Experience, 12 years ago, and I am proud that we continue to see results like these for the benefit of those who rely on us for their care."

Sharp entities that were recognized include: Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, Sharp Coronado Hospital, Sharp HealthCare, Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns, Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital and Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers.
