Sharp HealthCare's affiliated medical groups — Sharp Rees-Stealy
and Sharp Community Medical Group
(SCMG) — have achieved Elite Status, the highest possible designation for quality care given by the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) as part of its 2014 Standards of Excellence program. This is the fifth year in a row they have been so honored by CAPG, which is the nation's largest professional organization of managed care physician groups.
"Each of the dedicated physicians, health care providers and staff at Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group is focused on delivering outstanding, affordable, patient-centered care," said Dr. Donald C. Balfour, III, medical director of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. "Receiving Elite status for the fifth consecutive year in this rigorous assessment should give our patients great peace of mind that they have selected a medical group dedicated to excellence and continual improvement."
The Standards of Excellence program helps health care consumers evaluate physician groups in three key areas. The survey assesses how well-equipped and structured physician groups are to deliver a better patient experience, better population health and better overall affordability.
"This award is a testament to the excellence provided by the physicians of Sharp Community Medical Group in patient satisfaction, quality of medical care and the coordination of services provided to the population that SCMG serves," said Dr. John Jenrette, chief executive officer of Sharp Community Medical Group. "Each year the bar is raised in achieving the award and SCMG continues to demonstrate that drive for continued excellence."
