Diabetes is a serious disease that affects 20.8 million Americans, yet nearly one-third of those with the disease are unaware of it. This lack of awareness can lead to long-term complications associated with diabetes, including blindness, heart disease, kidney failure, amputation and even death.
During Diabetes Awareness Month this November, Sharp encourages all San Diegans to learn about their risk for diabetes. After you assess your diabetes risk, explore the numerous services Sharp offers to help you reduce these risks, including weight management and exercise programs.
For those already diagnosed with diabetes, attend one of our educational programs or classes through our Diabetes Self-Management Training Center to learn how to better manage your disease so you can live a longer, healthier life.
