Sharp provides the most advanced arthroscopic equipment to perform minimally invasive outpatient procedures. Many arthroscopic patients, including those requiring anterior cruciate ligament repair and other muscle and tendon injuries, can be treated on an outpatient basis. By eliminating the overnight hospital stay, arthroscopy offers greater comfort and convenience to the patient.
Back and Neck Pain Treatment
Sharp-affiliated physicians use the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment of problems associated with the spine.
Hip resurfacing is a surgical treatment option appropriate for the healthy, younger and active osteoarthritis patient who wants to get back to a normal lifestyle.
Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive treatment for spinal fractures or collapse caused by osteoporosis or cancer using a combination of vertebroplasty with balloon catheter technology.
Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery
Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure to treat certain mechanical conditions of the hip, particularly in young, active individuals suffering from hip pain. The surgery may help postpone or eliminate the need for future hip replacement surgery.
Minimally Invasive Osteoarthritis Knee Surgery
Sharp-affiliated orthopedic surgeons use the latest technology to provide an advanced surgery option for patients with early- to mid-stage osteoarthritis that results in less scarring; preservation of healthy bone, tissue and ligaments; rapid recovery; a shorter hospital stay; less pain; and a smaller incision. Orthopedic Trauma and Sports Medicine Care
With emergency services at every Sharp hospital and a level II trauma center located in central San Diego, Sharp has around-the-clock coverage for orthopedic trauma care.
Sharp's orthopedics team provides a variety of treatment options for patients with osteoporosis, which can help to strengthen bone structure and reduce pain. Surgical procedures are also available for patients who need additional care.
Spine and Neck Surgery Program
The spine surgery program at Sharp HealthCare offers a collaborative and comprehensive approach between orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons to treat disorders of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, including scoliosis, spinal tumors, spine trauma, spondyloisthesis and stenosis, among others.
Total Joint Replacement Program
Joint Endeavor®, Sharp's multidisciplinary team approach, includes active patient participation to achieve the best possible outcome and allow patients to return home and recover as quickly as possible after hip or knee replacement surgery. Learn more about Sharp's Total Joint Replacement Program.
Vertebroplasty is a nonsurgical treatment for spinal fractures caused by osteoporosis that helps to speed recovery and alleviate pain.
Sharp offers a four-week pharmacy management program for total joint replacement patients. Because patients are at high risk for developing blood clots, it is important for them to receive a blood-thinning medication after surgery. In most cases, physicians recommend Coumadin® or its generic equivalent, warfarin. For hip patients, a nurse will visit you at home to collect the blood sample. For knee patients, the anticoagulation service coordinates blood collection with physical therapy sessions so you only have to make one stop.
