Introducing PatientSecure — another way Sharp HealthCare is protecting you and your medical information.
At Sharp HealthCare, we are committed to providing our patients with the highest quality of care, and consider patient safety a priority. That’s why we are introducing a new, state-of-the-art patient identification process.

PatientSecure — a hand-scanning device that reads each patient’s unique palm vein pattern — is a nonintrusive and highly accurate way to identify patients at check-in for Sharp Rees-Stealy office appointments or while being admitted to a Sharp hospital. When you arrive for your appointment or admission, you will be asked to place your hand on the scanner.

When your hand is scanned, your individual palm vein pattern — which is 100 times more accurate than a fingerprint — is assigned an identification number that is connected to your personal information and Sharp medical records. Once you’ve completed the initial scan enrollment process, all you will have to do at future appointments and hospital admissions is provide your name and date of birth and scan your hand.
PatientSecure launched in June 2010 at the Sharp Rees-Stealy Downtown facility and is now featured at all Sharp Rees-Stealy facilities and Sharp hospitals.
