Bringing Flowers and Balloons to the Hospital

Flowers and balloons are a wonderful way to lift a patient’s spirits while staying in the hospital. They can, however, pose health risks to patients who may have allergies or sensitivities to fresh flowers or plants, or who may be more vulnerable and may get sicker.

The same is true for balloons. While most units permit Mylar (foil) balloons, many do not allow latex balloons due to latex allergies and sensitivities among patients, staff and visitors.
