Sharp Facilities Are Smoke-Free

Sharp HealthCare hospitals, clinics and other facilities are completely smoke free.

As San Diego's health care leader, Sharp has the responsibility to provide a healthier, safer and cleaner environment to work, receive care and visit. Acknowledging the inconsistency between advising on the health hazards of tobacco use and allowing its use on Sharp grounds, Sharp HealthCare prohibits tobacco use on almost all locations.

Tobacco use is prohibited for everyone — employees, volunteers, medical staff, board members, contract vendors, consultants, patients, visitors and community members — on Sharp properties including parking lots, structures and Sharp-owned vehicles. This policy does not affect behavioral health patients being treated at Sharp Grossmont Hospital and Sharp McDonald Center, which have designated outside areas for smoking.
