Pregnancy Conditions

Sharp's multidisciplinary team of physicians have specialized training and expertise to treat various conditions of expectant women and their babies.

  • Gestational and pregestational diabetes
It's important for women who have diabetes prior to or during pregnancy to take added care of themselves to prevent complications, including preeclampsia (toxemia).

  • High blood pressure
Whether high blood pressure is a pre-existing condition or develops while pregnant, expectant mothers should carefully monitor their symptoms and receive treatment when needed.

  • Infectious diseases and pregnancy
Infections during pregnancy, such as urinary tract infections, toxoplasmosis, food poisoning and sexually transmitted diseases, can pose a threat to the mother and her baby.

  • Multiple pregnancy
Whether expecting twins, triplets or more, it's important for  expectant mothers to know the symptoms, potential complications and how to best manage her pregnancy.

  • Newborn complications
Sometimes newborn complications do occur that require clinical care, including birth defects, birth injury, jaundice, hypoglycemia and thrush.

  • Preterm Labor
