Dear Diary,
I had my baby shower last weekend!!! It was so great to see all the girls (I opted for a female-only shower, not a co-ed one). Everyone looked so nice and even I got to wear a pretty dress! It was really nice to get dressed up and do my hair and makeup. I almost forgot how. The girls were SO generous, every present for Baby Alice seemed bottomless. We are so blessed!
Now I feel like we're doing well in the baby items department. I feel like my little girl will have what she needs. What a relief! I decorated her room right after the shower; washed and organized her blankies, burp cloths, and clothes; sorted her other teeny-tiny items; and now I feel like I can relax. I've been nesting, in case you couldn't tell. OK, I've created a whole new kind of obsessive nesting. If nesting were a tangible thing I would be stalking it. It's that bad. BUT I'm much better now.
Now I feel like she has a home to come to and that my brain is organized and can better process what our life might be like. I really enjoy sitting in her room, imagining what her and I will be like together. I'm really excited now! I have to say, as fun as it's been to have such an amazing little boy (I had no idea that I could love something so much!), it's really fun already to have the pink frilly girly clothes and things and imagine what she'll be like.
We're getting together a plan now for who is going to take care of Baby James when I go into labor and how the days immediately following will go.
I also registered us for our prenatal class. I called 1-800-82-SHARP and was able to get through to the class coordinator about which class would be right for us given that I have already had a baby but didn't go through a normal labor and delivery and due to bed rest wasn't even able to take any class last time. She advised us to take the six-week class and just go to the ones we needed or take the two-day class and do a large portion of it.
We chose the two-day class. I'm kind of excited about that, too! I'm far enough along now that my appointments for this month are every two weeks. Next month is delivery month so they go to every single week! My hubby is traveling for work but I've been assured that this is the last time before the baby comes that he'll be away.
This week has been remarkably cool and I'd be willing to sell off a good portion of our belongings if Mother Nature would keep it that way! Living in North County, even if it's not too hot, it's DRY and it's been a challenge to keep hydrated via lotion and chapstick, too.
Oh the other weird thing is my heartburn. With this pregnancy I haven't had hardly any heartburn until the last week or so. Not sure what's been causing it but I've been taking TUMS every evening before bed and sometimes once during the night. Which reminds me, it's about time to take some and get some sleep. If I want to be able to keep up with Baby James tomorrow, I need my beauty sleep!
