Jessica's Pregnancy Journal, Entry 3: 10 Weeks

Dear Diary,

Back to Sharp Rees-Stealy in Grossmont today for my second pregnancy appointment. I know now that I am 10 weeks along with “new baby.” Baby James came with of course, but my mom came along to play with him for me so that I could focus on the Nurse Practitioner, Lisa Clark.

This is technically when the first visit would normally have been but since I wasn’t sure of my last period when I found out I was pregnant and I needed my yearly exam anyway, I’ve been seen once by Lisa in the last month.

She was so nice and did another ultrasound because at 6 weeks you don’t see a whole heck of a lot on the screen. I affectionately call it a “baby blob” that early on. We saw much more tiny baby detail this time and I got some more ultrasound pictures to take home. I felt like she did not have to do all that and was really grateful! Another reason why, even though we’ve moved to North County, I remain with Dr. Leslie Gray’s office at Sharp Rees-Stealy!

We also went over all the prenatal testing, screening and blood work for the first trimester. I just popped down to the lab on the first floor of the very same building and there was only a 10 minute wait so I had my first trimester blood work done right then. That makes it so much easier since I already have baby James to take care of. I didn’t have to come back for another appointment for that. They have their own pharmacy and coffee cart there too which I’ve found convenient. It’s nice to have the familiarity of the same office, location, staff, etc. as with my last pregnancy!

We are very excited to meet “new baby” when it’s time!
