Dear Diary,
Baby James and I met my mom down at Sharp Rees-Stealy in Grossmont again for my monthly "new pregnancy" check up.
I saw Dr. Gray this time! I am reminded of her CALM nature. I am a fairly calm pregnant lady; I try not to freak out or get worked up over things. I imagine that for someone who was higher strung, Dr. Gray would be a lifesaver too! She's not dismissive at all, but just very reassuring in attitude and nature, let alone medical knowledge and verbal communication. LOVE HER! I remember her checking on me every day when I was in the hospital after having Baby James. *sigh*
She caught up with me on Baby James while we got ready to listen to the new baby's heartbeat. New baby sounds great! Normal and healthy and moving around!
I double checked that I'd be able to fly for vacation around 28 weeks. She said sure, no problem. Hooray! Due to having Baby James last summer with some previous complications we were not able to take any kind of vacation last year so this will be a relief!
I also asked her a couple of questions concerning my blood sugar as I've been having some light-headedness in the mornings. We determined that I'm eating much smaller dinners earlier and that is causing me to wake up hungry and with lower blood sugar. A small late-night snack and/or a higher protein breakfast will clear it right up.
Since I am inside the second trimester now I opted to have my second prenatal screen drawn at the lab downstairs before we left. My mom hung onto Baby James while I did that and we were in and out in about 15 minutes.
I feel a lot less cranky than I did the last couple of months but am still tired often. "Chasing" a 9-month-old probably doesn't help. But he is so much fun that it's hard not to look forward to it every day!
Note to self: start brainstorming breakfast ideas so that you're not caught off guard with no options.
1. Peanut butter smeared on a waffle, smeared on toast or half a bagel, with a banana.
2. Yogurt with some blueberries or strawberries. Ooh! Cottage cheese!
This is going to be a lot more exciting than cereal every day.
