Continuing Medical Education

The Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) at Sharp HealthCare provides educational activities for physicians, pharmacists and other health professionals, whose goal is to serve the health care needs of San Diego residents with a commitment to excellence and exceptional outcomes for all Sharp patients across the continuum of care.

The responsibility of the Office of CME is to assess, design, implement and evaluate educational and training initiatives for Sharp’s health care professionals.

Accreditations
Sharp HealthCare is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Sharp is also accredited by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

Honors
Sharp HealthCare's Office of CME was awarded Honorable Mention for Cultural and Linguistic Competency Excellence in a CME Program in 2007 by the Institute for Medical Quality, a subsidiary of the California Medical Association. This award was given for creativity and being able to effectively integrate Cultural and Linguistic Competency into our overall CME Program.

Additionally, the Office of CME was awarded a gold-level "Finest Award" by the Health Care Communicators (HCC) of San Diego County for the 2006 Primary Care Conference registration brochure. The award was the highest given in the Direct Mail/Direct Response category at the 2007 HCC Finest Awards ceremony.
