Research and Clinical Trials at Sharp Rees-Stealy

Sharp Rees-Stealy has a long-standing commitment to clinical research to advance the quality of care for the people of its community. The Sharp Rees-Stealy Research Department is one of the oldest and most highly respected medical research centers in San Diego.

The Sharp Rees-Stealy Research Department is currently recruiting patients to participate in the following studies:

Ulcerative Colitis
Study 1: If you are 18 years of age or older with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis, you may qualify for this clinical study. This 14-month study is an open label (no placebo control) study to assess the recurrence related to compliance with treatment of Mesalamine once daily for the maintenance of quiescent. All study-related medical evaluations and study medication are provided to qualified participants at no costs. Participants selected for this study may be reimbursed up to $225 for time and travel.

Study 2: If you are 18 years of age or older with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis and are currently experiencing a flare-up of your disease, you may qualify for this study. This is a 52-week study using Adalimumab (Humira) with the option to roll over into a two-year open label study. All study-related medical evaluations and study medication are provided to qualified participants at no costs. Participants selected for this study may be reimbursed up to $575 for time and travel.

Crohn’s Disease
If you are 18 to 74 years of age with moderate to severe Crohn’s disease, you may qualify for this study of an investigational drug. This study is 104-weeks of treatment. All study related medical evaluations and study medication are provided to qualified participants at no cost. Participants selected for this study may be reimbursed up to $925 for time and travel.
