When to Visit Urgent Care and Common Conditions Treated
If you think you are experiencing a life- or limb-threatening emergency, such as heart attack or stroke, call 911 immediately. Learn when to go directly to the emergency room (ER).
Common conditions treated in urgent care include:
- Cold, cough and sore throat
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Cuts and wounds
- Urinary and sexually transmitted diseases
- Sprains and strains
- Minor bone dislocations and fractures (splinting only, with referrals to an orthopedic or musculoskeletal specialist when indicated)

If you're unsure whether you require urgent care services, contact your doctor to ensure an urgent care visit is appropriate. For routine care like physicals, cholesterol, diabetes and blood pressure screening or treatment, contact your primary care physician.
Safe Prescribing Urgent Care and ER Alliance of San Diego County Member
As a member of the Safe Prescribing Urgent Care and ER Alliance of San Diego County, Sharp Rees-Stealy urgent care centers do not treat conditions such as substance abuse disorders or chronic pain. In addition, refills on psychiatric or narcotic pain medications or other controlled substances are not provided at our facilities.

Sharp Rees-Stealy contracts with Medicare and many health maintenance organizations (HMOs), preferred provider organizations (PPOs), exclusive provider organizations (EPOs), fee-for-service, indemnity and workers' compensation plans. Call your health plan member services department to see if your plan covers urgent care services at Sharp Rees-Stealy and to learn if a referral is required.
