"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." — Winston Churchill.
"Let the beauty of what you love be what you do." — Rumi.
This is my motto. Throughout my life, I have been inspired by those around me, and now every day by the patients I have the great honor to meet. I value being a lifelong learner, and I enjoy keeping up to date by attending the latest medical seminars. I also realize that part of my role is to coordinate care and look out for the best interest of my patients when it comes to dealing with how care is delivered. I have elected to work in a setting where I have the ability to control, to some degree, the doctor visit experience for the good of my patients.
I grew up in a family of teachers and struggled to find my path after immigrating to the U.S. during my early teen years. During my freshman year of college, I began volunteering at my local hospital, the University of Iowa Pediatric Cancer Center, and found my niche: I wanted to help people. While doing an honors research project in college, I was introduced to the field of immunology, and that is when I realized how amazingly complicated the human body is with its ability to heal.
In my spare time, I try to expose my two kids to the beauty of the world and find quality time to spend with my engineer husband. I am not into extreme sports, but enjoy anything that involves hiking, dancing, Zumba or moving. I also enjoy cooking, going to farmers' markets and aspire to become a pure vegetarian one day.
