Question: If I have a history of depression, will it get worse as I age?
Lynn Northrop, PhD, a lead clinical psychologist affiliated with Sharp responds:
Your risk is somewhat increased. If you’ve been depressed at some other time in your life, then you are going to be at a greater risk for another episode of depression, although that risk decreases somewhat if you access effective treatment for depression.
Part of the treatment is learning to prevent a relapse.
