A monthly breast self-examination (BSE) is recommended by experts. An annual clinical breast exam and a yearly mammogram for those more than 40 are also advised. Increased awareness due to early detection of any breast changes has caused a 50 percent decrease in breast-cancer related deaths since the 1970s.
Let Sharp help you remember to do your monthly BSE. Along with your monthly e-mail reminder on the date you request, you will receive a link to detailed information on the best techniques. You may discontinue this service or change your registration information at any time.
Breast Self-Exam Reminder Instructions
Please complete the following information to personalize your BSE reminder. The best day for your monthly BSE is one week after the start of your menstrual cycle. This is when your breasts are least likely to feel tender. If you no longer menstruate, pick one day of the month for your self-exam. Continue your BSE on that day each month — this will ensure your ability to notice changes. Contact your primary-care physician immediately if you notice a lump or other breast abnormality.
