Donor Kidney Removal by Laparoscopic Surgery

A minimally invasive, high-tech surgical procedure offered at Sharp.

Sharp's Kidney-Pancreas Transplant Program is one of a few programs nationally to offer laparoscopic kidney donation. During surgery, small incisions and a laparoscope (a small camera) are used in this high-tech donation process that offers many benefits to both transplant patients and donors, including:

  • Decreased discomfort for donor
  • Decreased recovery time
  • Decreased scarring
