We’re in the driver performance lab in Sharp Rehabilitation. If we can’t put that person in a good, safe driving scenario, then equipment has to be changed. And we sit with the client in the car making modifications and changing things. Or maybe even changing a hand control if it’s not appropriate to that. Or modifying the wheelchair.
I don’t even let people get cars with leather or vinyl seats. You know, you’ve got to be, it’s too hot in the summer so. I’m a mom. I’m a grandma. I’ve got 12 grandkids. So you do adopt every one of their issues. You worry about them. You think about them.
The longer you’re doing training, the more you know about them, the more you hear about what’s going on in their life, and so, yeah, I have kids call me or people call me back later and say, “You know when we were talking about this in the car and that in the car, can I just ask you something?” And it doesn’t have to be about driving. It can just sort of be about life.
