Baby and Me Yoga

Baby and Me Yoga is for new moms and not-yet-crawling babies, or parents/caregivers and babies.

A yoga class for babies and adults is intended to encourage:

  • Bonding
  • Mindfulness
  • Relaxation
  • Strength

A class may include:

  • Baby and Me poses
  • Baby massage
  • Meditation
  • Napping
  • Nursing
  • Pranayama (breathing)
  • Relaxation
  • Sleeping
  • Yoga asana (poses)

It is recommended that moms wait to return to active asana practice until postpartum bleeding has stopped. Generally, six weeks is recommended, but it can be anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks for vaginal birth or 8 to 10 weeks for C-section (with medical professional approval). A too-soon return to active asana can undermine intentions for self-care and baby care.

Benefits of Baby and Me Yoga

  • Aids in relaxation, sleep and digestion for both mom and baby
  • Focused time to bond and spend quality time together
  • Movement promotes confidence and ability for sitting, crawling and walking
  • Regain strength, flexibility and balance postpartum
  • Time to meet other parents, discuss child care issues, swap tips and feel supported by peers
