BLS Class Online With In-Person Assessment 2021
Take a self-paced online training module and then come for an in-person skills assessment to receive your two-year AHA course completion ecard.

This course is intended for participants who work or volunteer in a health care setting. You will complete the BLS for Healthcare Providers training through a self-paced online module and then take an hourlong in-person skills assessment.
After you sign up for your skills assessment, you will get the course key via email the next business day from the American Heart Association (AHA) to start your online learning. This email will come from eLearning.heart.org. If you cannot find this email and are not using a Sharp HealthCare email account, please check your junk and trash folders before contacting us.
You must finish the online course and present your completion certificate at the time you choose for your in-person assessment.
Upon successful completion of the in-person skills assessment, students will receive an email the next business day with instructions on claiming their two-year Course Completion eCard through the AHA’s website. Paper cards will no longer be distributed at the assessment.
Fee and Refund Information
All sales for keys to online classes are final and no refunds will be given for cancellations. You may reschedule your assessment time to a different date twice with no penalty. Sharp employees must agree to a $25 payroll deduction no-show penalty. Please ensure this learning method is appropriate for you prior to purchasing a key.
Registration for this class is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted. If you do not receive an email confirming your enrollment, please call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277).

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your registration for this event, please call 1-800-827-4277 Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, or log in to your account to cancel online.
- For Standard: A fee of $70 will be deducted from the amount paid if you cancel your registration less than 24 hours before the event.
- For Travelers: A fee of $35 will be deducted from the amount paid if you cancel your registration less than 24 hours before the event.
Parking Information
Free visitor parking is available from the lot entrance on Spectrum Center Boulevard. Employee parking is available in the front, back and side of the Spectrum building. The four entrances on Tech Way require an activated employee badge.

Special Instructions
About the Online Module
Students answer short multiple-choice questions within case-based scenarios and receive feedback based on their answers to proceed through 10 critical check points. Coursework takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.
- Once purchased, your course key will be e-mailed to you by 5 pm the next business day after purchase.
- The e-mail that you receive will be from eLearning.heart.org and will include a link to the website where you will activate your course key and complete the checkpoints, written evaluation and evaluation survey.
- After you complete the coursework, print the completion certificate to bring to your skills assessment. The certificate is valid for 60 days from the date of purchase.
Skills Remediation and the In-Person Skills Assessment
There is no skills remediation during the in-person assessment. Sharp Healthcare considers this a challenge course for those who are proficient in CPR. The assessment takes about 1.0 to 1.5 hours.
Course Cancellation Policy
Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified by phone two days before the class and will have the opportunity to attend another date or receive a full refund of the registration fee.
Special Needs Assistance
At the skills assessment, you will be practicing skills that require working on the floor and having hands-on contact with the mannequins and fellow students. If you have any physical conditions that might prevent these activities, please contact the Sharp Cardiac Training Center at 619-740-4226.
Arrival
Effective June 8, 2020, face coverings are required to be worn at all of Sharp’s non-medical facilities when physical distancing of 6 feet or more is not possible and in common areas such as stairwells, elevators, break rooms, lobbies and hallways. You must bring a face covering with you to class. Anyone who does not have a face covering will be asked to reschedule.
Due to recommended precautions against coronavirus (COVID-19), we will not have any students demonstrate breathing directly into a mask, mouthpiece or manikin. For purposes of our classes, you will practice and test using a bag-valve-mask for respirations. Before we start class, we ask that you wash your hands and use hand sanitizer as needed during the class. If you are currently ill, especially if you have respiratory symptoms, please notify the instructor and reschedule for another date once you are well.
What to Bring
It is mandatory that you bring the following to your in-person skills assessment appointment in order to proceed with testing:
- Online certificate
- Photo ID
- Face covering
If you are not able to fulfill these requirements, you will be required to reschedule.
